Midwestern Sky
starlit sky covering
all that is gray
shrouding this blandness
with your deception
creating the mysterious
out of the ordinary
offering hope that more
is hiding out there
…just out of sight and out of reach
this elusive fantasy remains
real until it is seen
and is then lost forever
it’s mythology cut
apart with truth
exposed for what it is
…false hopes and dreams
About Cole Bradburn
I'm a writer and doctor in lifelong pursuit of health, happiness, and adventure. I currently live in Raleigh, NC with the love of my life and our amazing boys.
I really like this one, Cole. Just the other day, I was explaining to my seven-year-old how the Earth revolves around the sun. Then I told him that a long time ago, people thought that the sun was pulled across the sky in a chariot. I must admit that I like the latter version better myself. It’s a bit more grand and awe-inspiring. But I guess the mature understanding of the intricate detail put into the creation of our universe and all its parts evokes another sort of awe.
Thanks Jason. Both views are majestic in such different ways. One for the story, one for how the whole is much more than the sum of it’s parts — (one visible, one invisible).
