I wrote this while laying in bed sometime around 3:00am staring at my 3 day old boy. He amazes me, and is giving me a better understanding of God’s love for us.
It’s overwhelming.
After the poem are pictures and the story.
Life’s Waiting to Begin
As you sleep
I’m hard at work
studying every detail of your little face,
trying to take this moment out of time
and freeze it in eternity.
You look so peaceful,
so innocent,
so beautiful.
The longer I look
the more I find myself becoming overwhelmed
by something indescribable.
You move me to tears
without even opening an eye.
My heart is ablaze for you little man.
Like a wildfire that cannot be contained
burning up all in its path so that
we can begin anew.
My life is loving you.
You’ve taught me how, and you’re only three days old.
My Son, Cillian Luke Bradburn, has arrived!
Cillian (KIH-lee-un) entered our world at 7:21pm on June 30th, 2012. He was a week early, but was still bigger than both Casey and I were as babies. He immediately stole our hearts with alert and wide open eyes, big hands and feet, and a flat spot on one ear that every Bradburn in my family has.
I got to rock him to sleep for the first time while Casey was getting cleaned up, and let me tell you there is no greater feeling than getting to hold and see a human being you created and dreamt about for 3/4 of a year. It’s even better that he was made with my best friend, lover, and wife who was powerful and amazing in getting Cillian here naturally.
We can’t wait to raise this little man and watch him grow into a mighty man of purpose. Nothing but thanks and gratitude to our birthing team who helped and supported the little man coming into our lives naturally: Kate, Lydia, and Nicole.
